Over 4,000-km of rural roads built using green tech: PMO

NEW DELHI | APRIL 26: 

Over 4,000 km of rural roads have been constructed using green technology in FY17. The Centre is also aggressively pushing the use of non-conventional materials such as waste plastic, cold mix, geo-textiles, fly ash, iron and copper slag in road construction, said a release issued by the Prime Minister’s Office, after a review of infrastructure projects here on Wednesday.

“The highest ever average daily construction rate of 130 km has been achieved for rural roads under the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY). This has led to an addition of 47,400 km of PMGSY roads in 2016-17,” said the release, adding that 11,641 additional habitations have been connected with roads in the same period (see more)

Rotterdam to shape Gujarat’s port development:

GANDHINAGAR: In a major boost to Gujarat’s future maritime development, the Port of Rotterdam has agreed to a strategic tie-up with the Gujarat Maritime Board (GMB) to lend its expertise in a slew of projects including planning for new ports and churning out skilled professionals in shipping and transport sectors.

Rotterdam will help GMB, the regulator of maritime activities in the state, in framing a detailed strategic plan report for future projects and skill development by working closely with the proposed International Maritime University (see more)

India Pushes Ahead With Two New Chabahar Terminals:

India is fast-tracking its plans to complete two new terminals at Iran’s Chabahar Port with the tendering process already underway, India’s transport minister said.The agreement for Chabahar Port is finalized and a global port company [has been] formed.
